Frequently asked questions

What is a 70% glycolic acid peel used for?
A 70% glycolic acid peel is a maximum-strength superficial-to-medium AHA peel used in clinic for photodamage, uneven texture, fine lines, dull tone and non-melanotic dyschromia. As the smallest AHA molecule, glycolic acid at 70% penetrates deepest, removing damaged surface layers while stimulating Type I and III collagen. It is a professional-only peel requiring skilled, timed application and neutralisation.
How is the depth of a 70% glycolic peel controlled?
Depth is governed by contact time, not just concentration. Glycolic acid is a self-neutralising-by-time-and-buffer AHA, so the clinician controls penetration by how long it stays on before timed neutralisation (with NEUT.01 or per protocol). Shorter contact gives a superficial refresh; longer, carefully monitored contact reaches medium depth. This is why it must be applied by a trained practitioner.
Is a 70% glycolic peel safe for darker skin tones?
At 70%, glycolic is best suited to lighter Fitzpatrick types where maximum resurfacing intensity is needed. In Fitzpatrick IV–VI skin the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation risk is higher, so most clinicians choose a lower-strength glycolic, or a mandelic/lactic peel, as the first or maintenance peel and reserve 70% for selected, well-prepped patients.
How often can it be used, and how many sessions per jar?
It is typically used as a course of in-clinic sessions spaced per the treatment plan (commonly every 2–4 weeks), with the count tailored to the indication and skin response. Each 30ml jar yields roughly 20 applications.
